OUR STORY. THE BEGINNING. 1979
Hagibis was formed in 1979 by Vic del Rosario & Mike Hanopol, who envisioned a group that would bring the energy of disco and the swagger of the “macho” image to the Filipino stage. The original lineup—Sonny Parsons, Mike Respall, Joji Garcia, Mon Picazo, and Bernie Fineza—burst onto the scene with bold moves, catchy beats, and an image that captured the imagination of fans across the nation.
With chart-topping hits and performances on both stage and screen, Hagibis quickly earned the title of the “Filipino Village People”, leaving a mark not only on music but on Philippine pop culture as a whole.
